Project Phoenix / H2 / 7benblazer

Project is going to be a swap from a previous project. Going to get an 06 L33 5.3l v8 with ls6 cam, built 4L60e, 8.5" rear with 3.42s, etc..

Starting point is a 98 blazer that's pretty loaded, driving lights, tilt, cruise, leather, power seats, windows, locks, and windows, etc.

Coming home

Unloaded. Sheet metal is very clean and straight, but does need valance and pass rear bumper cover love. Interior is clean but shows some wear. Will need to be aired out as previous owner did smoke in it.

I'll get pics of the interior later, find a bunch of burnt wires in the wire harness connector over the parking brake. Assuming it's the main harness that connects to the fuse panel. Power door locks and rear hatch release along with mirrors don't work. Po had over sized fuses in the panel, going to be fun sorting it out. Plan to debadge and possibly detrim. Not digging the wheel well chrome too much.

Congrats on the restart. Does the 02 also have a hatch or is it a tailgate? Those are some beefy looking side moldings.

Preciate it man, 02 has the tailgate. Not sure if I can swap them, and also unsure if which I would like better. Kinda enjoy having the tailgate to sit on from time to time even though it's low.

Daughter and I made a run to the beach Saturday morning. Stopped and made a convenient parts pickup on the way. 60k 02 SS rims, $300

I didn't think I remembered the other truck having a hatch. I've wondered if the hatch/gate set ups are interchangeable. I've noticed all the trucks I've seen with the hatch also have floor mounted shifters.

Glad to see the ZR2 made the trip without issue. Heck of a nice score on the wheels. Will you need to order new spacer(s) because of the wreck?

Unsure at the moment. Actually just sitting out here in the garage staring at the broken rim. Removed all the packed dirt from around the lugs and popped the center cap off. Tomorrow might be a long night in the garage.

I'm glad you found a great replacement truck so quickly. I'll enjoy watching your progress from afar.

Thanks Greg, this one will be starting up soon, just have to pull everything off the original.

Went to put a sunshade in it yesterday.. smoking smell is very strong in it, even with the windows cracked open. I like the leather, but am wondering if a interior swap is coming.

Got some elbow grease going today, cleaned up the rims to like new and acid washed/degreased the exhaust and 8.5". I took a brass bristle brush and purple stuff, went around every single rim and removed every little trace of old rubber and mounting fluid from them. When I put a tire on I want a good seal and no future problems.

I'm painting the exhaust with vht flame proof flat aluminium. It's not going to be show worthy, just wanted to protect it a little. Right now it's in primer, letting it set for 2 days then hosing it down with color. Went ahead and touched up the rear with gloss black.

I also started pulling the interior and extra pieces out of the old blazer. Should have the dash and wiring out by Tuesday at the latest.

Also left the doors open all day today trying to air it out, finally had a chance to get interior shots, this one even has the home link garage door opener! Score!
