the Tyclone SS... LT1 AWD 85 Jimmy

So I picked up Hotwire's Jimmy this week. It looked like a great start to a project and after all the hard work that Zach and Jeff did before me... wheww... They just seem to be experts in thier areas and have done wonders on the truck. Hopefully I will be able to finally complete it!

Here is a refresher on what they have done so far.
Description: Started life as a super clean, rust free 1985 GMC Jimmy 4x4 2.8L 4speed

NOW...
Drivetrain:
- 1996 Cadillac LT1 approx 70k mi
- 1997 Z28 SS heads & intake, ported, gasket matched, valve job
- CC502
- MSD blaster coil, MSD 8.8mm wires, NGK plugs
- MSD fuel pump
- cleaned injectors
- 1LE intake
- TB mod, MAF descreened, AIR removed
- new GM timing chain and gears
- OBD1 ecm, cable, software, and knock sensor
- all wiring and plumbing completed, turn key motor
- oil cooler w/ remote oil filter
- has new addition. a tranny cooler in the box, needs to be installed
* exhaust needed
* driveshaft needed (Has two spare driveshafts)
* possible leak from transfer case

1996 4L60-E completely rebuilt to stock specs by previous owner
- 19** Borg Warner 4472 all wheel drive transfer case
- brand new heavy duty custom front prop shaft
- 2000 stall converter
- 3.73s, rear posi, front open diff
- all fluids changed, additive in rear
- 1999 Corvette C5 rims, 4 17" rims, 2 18" rims
* needs adaptors for rear
- 2000 LS1 Z28 big brake conversion, dual piston front calipers, single piston rears,
* still needs e-brake hooked up
- dropped 3" rear w/ blocks and has 2" block not installed
* needs belltech keys to lower front, can be purchased from summitracing
* needs shocks

Exterior:
- The truck was stripped and primed a few years ago it is in Hugger Orange
- all handles shaved, roofrack shaved, 90% bodywork completed,
* needs windshield
* needs grille (91-93 GMC, may need rad support)
* needs front bumper
* needs roll pan
* needs door poppers
- some surface rust, body is straight

Interior:
all interior needs to be installed
- 1997 full power blazer bucket seats
- 2nd gen Bravada center and over head consoles

There is alot of work to be done but its a great starting point for me as I am no expert mechanic and couldnt have done what Zach and Jeff have done thus far.

Ill start this thread off with the whole story of how this truck arrived in my garage. (short version)
I was selling my bike, a Honda CBR900RR, and looking to buy a project S10. preferably I wanted to build a 2 door blazer with an LT1, shaved handles and roof rack, vette wheels, etc. I have always wanted a Typhoon but could never afford one in decent enough shape for me. The thought of an AWD V8 truck would be great but shoot I could never afford one.

I sold the bike, loaded the family and drove on out to NC to pick it up. Just so happens that my sister lives about 80 miles from the truck and the kids had never traveled to that area of the country. hehe

I met Jeff at is house and he was very helpful and informative. He pointed out about everything he knew about the truck and showed me all the good and the bad. We BSed for a more hours than my family would have liked, but they knew how excited I was so they didnt mind much. Jeff loaded the Jimmy with loads of goodies and helped me get it situated on the trailer. Off we went!

The trip was a good time. We stopped and saw the sights like the National Corvette Museum, and drive straight through. They were a few incidents, as always....

We stopped at a gas station and I checked the truck over. I guess someone forgot to screw in the left taillight. lol Opppsss... Luckily it doesnt have nice new paint and didnt break, scratch or dent anything.

Jeff tried to show me how to tie up the excess strap on the tie-downs. I guess I didnt get it right as one strap came undone and was dragging. Good thing I noticed it before any real damage was done.

I wont even talk about the rain... No trip is complete without some rain!

The rain was ok because when we got back to Texas Im sure the 70mph driving mixed with 101 degree temp was alike a large hairdryer for the Jimmy! lol

But through it all... 2,500 miles later, about 150 gallons of gas, lots of fun, hours of not sleeping, and a memorable experience for life... We made it home!

Yeah I have gone over all kinds of stuff in on and around the truck and now Im stumped. Where to begin??? lol

Yeah its 97 Blazer power bucket seats, a 2nd gen bravada center console with a 97 Blazer overhead console with all the storage, maplights, compass and thermometer. Zach fabbed the brackets for the seats and center console. Need to fab up the roof and front center console brackets and they are done.
