My went out for milk thread.

Been keeping an eye out for something decent for my oldest sons first vehicle. This is what I wound up with:

2001 ZR2, 164k lower end knock an low oil pressure. It's still a very faint knock so I hope we can cure it with a crank kit.

Mike (2qwik4u) prepare yourself before you scroll down more

He won't be 15 till September an he will be doing the bulk of the work to repair it. I'm hoping that will lead to him having pride in it an being more careful and resposible. It worked for me when I was 16 anyway....

We actually have three, the other two are 9 an 6.

I do have one question, since the knock is really faint I'm thinking is just a worn bearing an not a spun one. If that is the case then we can replace the bearings an crank without messing with the rest right?

Probably won't tear into it until after Christmas, I'll start a thread in the project section when we do though.

Well I just now started on this but now photobucket has gone nuts. Anyone have a decent place that will still host free pics?

I'm using imgur but am not crazy about their terms of service. so I only put stuff on there I have to.

there is also imageshack as well as flickr.

Tinypic is owned by photobucket so I wouldn't recommend them.

Hey Paul, try these links to get photobucket working for you:

Chrome
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...=cb-dl-created

Firefox
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fir...-embedded-fix/

Post up if you have any questions, there's enough collective knowledge from the residents that I'm sure it can be answered or steered in the right direction.

Take an hour and pull front bumper (it's keyed to the fenders, will bend sheetmetal if not removed), 10 body bolts, would have made that a lot less arduous. I think the ZR2 body sits higher on the frame, but if not, seriously think about jacking the body up off the frame, leave the 2 rear body bolts by the rear bumper loose and remove the rest, then jack up each side and put a 2x4 between the body mount and cab under the front door hinges. Makes getting the driver's side 10 o'clock bolt, fuel lines, and top bellhousing bolts so much easier to access.

Body bolts on the 4 door are:
2 in core support
under front door hinges
in front of rear wheel well
top of frame arch above rear axle
right at rear of frame before bumper.

lol, all from memory, guess I had to pull an engine or trans one too many times..
