I didn't have a pre-cat on mine, but what I did was cut the pipe a few inches before it bends up over the transmission cross member. I then went to the muffler shop and had them weld on a piece of pipe that had a flange on it. This way if I ever have the need to I can just unbolt and drop the y-pipe out of the way. Cost me 35 dollars.

2000 blazer

my 2000 blazer has the auto trannie, i do not have the pre cats just the one right under the passenger side seat, and from the picks the slp unit looks alomst like my factory is there a diff. if so where can i get the y pipe from, and what part num. do i need, also i know a company that will reflash the computers to do away with the last o-2 sensor meaning no cat just a y pipe and a nice flowing mufller, i have thought about a nice x pipe setup with dual muffs but i am wondering about the weight to power ratio, may be better of with just a y pipe and 3" muffler. any suggestions are most helpful.

I had a custom y-pipe made for my '02 S-10 and it takes a while to have it done correctly. Yes, you will need someone the reflash because it will through a code in a day or so.

I put JBA Header on mine and 2.25" pipes into a Magnaflow muffler with a dual inlet and single 3" outlet with no cats and its sounds pretty good. I also have it turn down just past the axle. The job took 2 days to complete.

Hope this helps.

this doesn't really have anything to do with y pipes but for those of you having trouble burning plug wires with the jba headers get the accel shorty header plugs I had the same problem until I installed those plugs never burnt another wire, you can get them through jegs sorry I don't remember the numbers on them.
