Hopefully. Have a lot of family stuff lined up this week, so I won't get a lot of garage time. Was trying to race the clock to have it ready for a trip this weekend, but that's not going to happen. Honestly have felt like a fly beating myself into a window trying to make the deadline.

Deadlines NEVER work out...

I get it. I been trying to get my car done for an Autocross event that was yesterday. I have said F it and it gets done when it gets done.

Luckily weather really has been junk almost all month with maybe 3/4 nice sunny days. So that's helped with not being as mad about it lol.

When its 70s and sunny im ready to drive it.

Lol weather actually helped me out tonight, somewhat.. Daughter's softball games got rained out, so I used the time to get the cowl painted. Humidity screwed me but it's done.

Start of the resale red (or aneurysm red.. Or Volkswagen tornado red) application

Not too shabby for quick bondo and spray bomb, lol it'll be a different story when the paint levels out.

Done

And done. Was going to pull all the plastic off but there's trash behind the top masking tape.

Jeff, the paint looks good from here. What did you spray it with? Just rattle-can or did you end up with a gun?

Thanks, I'm holding my reservations until the paint levels out. I took those shots while it was still wet and I was high on fumes. I put a serious rush on the paint so it's not going to turn out good. Would have liked to use some high fill primer to smooth it out more but all I had was rustoleum. Can't mix acrylic and lacquer paints.

Used all duplicolor rattle cans. 2 coats hot rod primer gray, quick smooth w/ 400 grit, then 4 coats of the volkswagen tornado red, closest match I could find, then 2 heavy coats of clear. Hopefully it'll hold up and seal the paint.

Called windshield guy, he could come out today but I wasn't sure how my work load would end up. He's going to call me when he's in my area soon.

When you send a video of your car idling to an engineer and stating that you tweaked the tune so it'd idle at 700 rpm... These texts started last night and have continued through this morning with no provoking. Sheesus.

Yea, frigging nightmare that guy..

Steering joints are torqued, cotter pinned, and greased. Sway bar is installed, one bracket bolt pulled out of the frame. Exhaust is lined up better and sealed up (driver's side rotated down), then fixed my lights issue.

Turns out the headlight switch doesn't like distributing ground, so I had to add a diode between the headlight and parking light pin to get the relays to turn on. I also screwed up the brake light wires. Had to swap them at the switch so brakes weren't on as soon as you plug them in. There wasn't a lot of room with a column in the way.

Was just getting ready to put the long blade on the sawzall to trim the back of the chevelle gauge bezel when I realized what time it was. Hopefully more updates tomorrow.
