So, spend weekend tinkering with wagon. Had a friend leaning towards tuning issues, so we started tweaking tune perameters to no avail. I double checked exhaust with no significant leaks found. Sunday I decided I was gonna go buy a new MAF, with not much faith that would be fix.

I pulled the intake off and heard a rattle. My cheap Ebay filter had a metal cap inside that came unglued and beat up the honeycomb of the MAF. I had already bought a new one so I went ahead and installed it, and a new cone filter. Car back to running like it used to.

Pretty pumped to be back to normal.

It's Friday.

I've driven wagon everyday since Sunday. I forgot how I missed it.

I had sent my speedo in to Autometer for repair last week, got it back Tuesday. Did a fresh calibration. Still have same issue. Won't go over 20mph. So gonna take a look after work today for VSS signal at speedo plug. Speedo has been giving me some issues for probably close to 2 years, but still have accurate speed. Just would flick up 10mph and resettle on occasion.

Have 2 car shows to hit up this weekend, probably do a killer burnout at Steelfest, hopefully get some video.

I ordered a tire yesterday, I have 1 good one on shelf. to have replacements ready to go

Sounds like some noise in the line causing the interference. Make sure the wires are decently twisted together all the way to the ecm. This helps cancel any noise between the pair. Pull the vss and make sure the magnet doesn't have any metal shavings on it. Look through the hole in the tail shaft and make sure the reluctor ring is lined up with the sensor. Also make sure the sensor is seated well in the tailshaft housing. Too much space will cause irrelevant readings.

Glad you're back on the road man, smiles per mile is where it's at.

Attended my first solid autocross event of the year. And got my BFG rivals mounted on my repop 18x9.5 vette wheels that I plastidipped black.

It was a FAST course with id say close to 1100ft straight away breaking up the front and back half of track. guestimate 80mph, but didn't have a functional speedo to verify. Had a fairly stock Miata gridded in front of me, so that was good to have as reference for my performance. My goal is always to be able to run times close to or better than those.

First lap 68.154 running 33psi in all tires.
Second lap 65.096 31psi front, 33 rears
Third lap 63.677 31psi all around.

third lap a kid in a lotus elise was talking to miata kid in front of me ran like a 64.7XX, he was not thrilled when I told him my time. ROFL, makes day totally worth it.

4th lap was by FAR my best, and timing issues I never got another timed lap. REALLY bummed about it. I fully expect that 4/5th laps were deep 62s at least. They setup some straight line runs with timing equipment, sounded like I was in top 5 of cars there for straight line stuff.

Car seemed to be very well received. I got extended an invitation to an event following weekend called Fellowship of piston rings exhibition event. Pretty pumped about that, it has an eclectic group of cars invited including, Lambos, a real deal GT40, typical imports (subarus/miatas/golfs), couple vets, F-type jag, Torinio, new NSX. Local car club that puts on these events 100% of profit is charity for Autism awareness. Pretty cool.

I no follow facebook. Too much politics, drama, 3 legged dogs that need rescue, and 1 eyed cats that are missing. Plus I'm digging having privacy and time on my hands. Back to vehiculars.

*EDIT* Greg, that video is pretty cool, might have to steal that idea next year..
