There's a lot of info on it on the web.
Yes the Sunbird ECM is the same 1227749 as the Sy/Ty ECM, however it has a memcal that is calibrated for a 2.0L 4cyl Turbo car, so that will get me ALOT closer to the fuel curves I would need, as opposed to the 4.3 Turbo that would most li kel run VERY rich on a 2.2

Also the Sy/Ty guys have a ECM "hack" that will let you run a 3bar map sensor instead of the stock 2bar...Allowing the PCM to see more than 14.5 psi of boost, which could be a good thing when a built motor appears, or you feel like blowing up the stock unit

The transfer from the stock computer to the sunbird ECM wouldn't be terribly difficult I don't think. They are both MAP setups, and they use the same sensors with the same voltages (low and high) so I could use all the existing sensors, as well as the existing wiring. I was actually thinking of getting the "pinouts" of each ECM and some connectors from both (still sourcing these) and making a "pigtail" type setup that would almost allow a "plug and play" type install. The only thing I am worried about is loosing the "NICE" things like Automatic headlights, and the speed sensitive sound. I will find a way around that I think. I know some Sy/Ty guys are using 4l60e trannies with late model PCM's to run them, so I see no reason I couldn't do that same thing, only slightly backwards of that.

I think I am going to make this thread a sticky as well, seems like about the 5th time I have typed this info, and really this question gets asked like once a month anyway. Any objections??

Aren't the things like AHL, speed sensitive sound, etc. handled by the BCM and not the ECU? I wouldn't think those things would be affected by tapping into the ECU.

I like your idea of making a custom wiring harness for that setup.

I have asked that question about a million times, and no-one anywhere has a good definitvie answer....I dunno really....Just 20 minutes with a GM electrical designer would give me more info than I could use in MONTHS of design

there is a solution for a 2.2 turbo, there is a company in canada that made one. i have been in contact with the owner, and he said the kit is good to 5 psi, that yields about 160, he said the safest max boost on that engine without added fuel system mods and engine work is 8psi at around 175hp. BUT thus was all done w/o an intercooler. the kit is for install only (unless we can get enough people in the us to ask about them) they run about 2600$ w/o an intercooler and an extra 850 for the intercooler setup. heres the link http://www.turbotech.ca/home.html

have fun kids

Eh....I'll spray to 160 cheaper than boosting.
