...the end result seems to be the same, but how you get there is not exactly how you planned.

Quit my career in autoparts 2 weeks ago to take a 100% commission sales position selling supplemental insurance. Needless to say, its life changing decision which has put cars at back of my mind.
But in attempt to diagnose the ongoing trans issues, I finally got OTC gauge hooked up. Had the trans guy go for a ride, its definitely got some issues. ITs going into limp mode when it sees WOT now, it wasn't doing that before. He wanted a datalog to see what actual voltage is. Sounding like a tuning issue. But its hurt enough I will have to pull it and at a minimum refresh clutch packs over winter. Also got car re-appraised, since I have done a ton of work since last appraisal. Came back at 41k. That is gonna make me sleep better at night. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hate to hear about the stress but glad you're improving your life. Lol I'd be afraid to change career paths or get my car appraised!
On the trans, when you're ready I can walk you through clutch replacement, it's not bad.

Couple things accomplished Sunday.
Been needing to fill some holes I found in firewall causing some severe leaks. 3 I plugged with rubber plug and clear rtv. big one I made a steel patch and welded up. Also about 2.5 years overdue. I finally painted my raw column. Used silver metallic wheel paint. Turned out nice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Looking good man. The 2 holes under the column were for plastic snaps that hold a "skirt" of sorts to dress up the bottom of the column. The big hole was for a rubber grommet and mechanical speedo cable.

Sitting in my aunts garage across town.
Swapped it with S10 several weeks ago, to give S10 some drive time before it gets to cold. Unfortunately my to-fix list is fairly large, and having started a new career path that 100% commission has been a rough go lately. I actually have considered selling it, just to keep afloat if it gets to that point. But sat down today with my financial advisor and looked at some other options for that "worst case scenario" Most likely it will sit all next year, or maybe just get driven a little here and there. It needs drivetrain pulled out, head gaskets replaced and if the heads are off they will get ported and maybe a bigger cam, autocross oil pan. Needs trans refreshed again. and of course 12 bolt is still sitting in floor too. ![]() |
