Not the one I expected when I looked at this thread initially, however it totally makes sense now.

I'm subscribing to watch the shenanigans and tech unfold. You never let me down on a good story.

You're like the Mike Holmes of the auto world IMO.

#MOREDOORMAFIA

Welcome to both the Chevelle club and more door club lol

Also, in my research of Chevelle suspensions. Its been noted that is one of the worst designs ever lol. So prepare yourself for that...Since I don't have a baller budget to buy 2k+ AFX spindles to correct it. Ill be doing tall ball joints and bump steer kit.

Thanks guys! I'm already digging having this thing. Before, going into a parts store it was like, *deep breath* "it's a 98 s10 blazer with a 06 5.3, it's the HO all aluminum L33, built trans, etc etc" I liked seeing people's faces when it finally dawned on them, but now it's, "64 chevelle". whoa!! I can get used to this.

Working on getting registration transferred, curious how much NC will think this is worth and the taxes I'll have to pay. Found a rear window, the winning story is I saved $100, unwinning, I paid $300 and have to drive to Charlotte when it finally gets there, guy said possibly 3 weeks. m'n'fer.

Ordered lock set (door, ignition, trunk, glove box) as this thing came with no keys and can start w/ no key (don't like that). Service/body manual, plenty of 1 page schematics online, not much to this thing. Getting catalogs from all the places that will put them out. So far the local chevelle places aren't much help. Called the one today, thought I'd come down with a venereal disease when I told the guy 4 door.

Short answer, spacers. Think they cut the coil too short then had to raise it back up. The crossmember is about 5-6" off the ground.

Just cross referenced steering box #s as this one is leaking really bad. S10 and chevelle use the same box, Mikey, finally going to use your ZQ8 box!

Quick shot of engine bay as purchased. Going to clean it up soon, just trying to figure out what I want to do first when I get home.

WOW, you've had that thing for like a decade now. Glad to see it's finally going to get some use. I hope it's still good!

Thanks Mitch!

Didn't get anything done last night in the garage, had some honeydo's and an awesome dinner waiting.

I do have a shot of the casting #s on the block, you can see it says GM 5.0L and 14010201. Shop owner said he thought the engine was original, but when I saw plastic sensors and o2s on the logs, I knew different. Looked up the casting numbers, one site says 80-85 camaro/nova 305, another site says 78-79. Doesn't matter, I kinda know what I'm working with, all good. The way the exhaust sounds I really thought it was a 350. It's very deep and has a high compression pop, when you walk behind the car the exhaust rattles your pant legs.

Also got a quick shot of the high dollar hybrid synthetic exhaust hangers, must be a new product, I haven't heard of them.

Hopefully getting garage time tonight and tomorrow. Still have to clean up from the 4runner front end rebuild, then want to get shots of the professional wiring jobs and get an inventory of everything I have so I know how much I need. Took tomorrow off, getting registration done and have to wait on some deliveries at the house.

Wife is already green lighting interior stuff as she's got bad allergies and I "think" she likes the car.. She mentioned something about a lot of dust in the interior, she's been checking it out. This could lead to good things!

Right now I have more manpower feet mileage in the car than I do actual 305 powered driving. I was able to drive it in and out of the garage Sunday night when making room for the 4runner. Need to check trans fluid, have to rev it up to get it into gear and the brakes are weird pedo clown scary. You even brush your toe across the pedal and it will put you through the windshield. I almost tagged myself on the steering wheel when I was pulling it back in.

*EDIT* brand new tires all the way around! More tread for testing purposes!
