Forum Breakout

Just an idea:

The "For Sale" thread has over 32,000 posts. Finding anything by TOPIC is just not possible....you have to surf page after page hoping to come across the stuff you want.

Recommendation:

Break out the Classifieds into their own Forum and further break that Forum out into topical area's.

Examples:

Forum: Classifieds; For Sale

Exterior
Interior
Performance
Lighting
Sound
Etc

Just a thought...

that requires A LOT of work, if you wanted to move the current classifieds into those catagories.

IMO, it would be easier to find things if old FS ads (maybe anything over 1 year) was purged and any SOLD items be removed as well.

That would do 2 things, help make it easier to find stuff and help free up some space on the server.

You're right

It would take a lot of work. Maybe a Search Engine instead? Or just set up the new Forum and start from there without transferring any of the old posts? Just idea's.

hell jsut have them deleted after 6 weeks.....

If something still for sale after that 6 weeks is up. they either have to bump it or loose it.

I kinda agree with the bump it or loose it, but it is alot easier to have it all in one place. Some one parting out a truck? Alot easier to list parts than start several different threads about it. Also, doesn't the advanced search work in the for-sale section?
I think some time-limit would be nice. I mean seriously if it's still for sale 6months or a year later, they can repost it. It probably needs a price adjustment anyways
Unnecessary dividing causes unnecessary work and more server space.

There is a search engine. Up at the top where it says Advanced , once you click that you can type in what you want and select so it only searches For Sale, or whatever section you prefer.

yea the search button does wonders........

but you also get like 400 threads.... and only 10 of those have probably been posted in the last 45 days

for those parting out vehicles...the bump or lose would work out..

they would have to go back and edit whats been sold anyway.. might as well bump it while their in there
